In Jackson Hall, Barclay College grants the B.A. in Psychology & Family Studies at a 10:1 student-professor ratio for engaging study on human behavior that builds interpersonal skills for careers strengthening modern family units. Chaired by Dr. Keith White, this 128-credit, HLC-accredited major melds campus courses like Introduction to Family Therapy with Juniors Global trips and 96 clock hours at community service partners, such as Haviland Friends Church.

There’s a 24-credit Online Certificate in Psychology that can be combined with the 128-credit BA in Youth Ministries, BA Pastoral Ministry, BA in Missions, and others.
The School of Graduate Studies headed by Dr. Derek Brown awards a 36-credit, two-year M.A. in Pastoral Ministries that upholds Matthew 28:19 by spreading God’s love in Church settings. Directed by Dr. David Mabry, the M.A. in Family Ministries also plots an online 36-credit, ABHE-approved sequence emphasizing personal growth in healthy relationships. Two similar options are the M.A. in Spiritual Formation and M.A. in Missional Multiplication.
About Barclay College
Barclay College originated in 1917 when Religious Society of Friends minister Scott T. Clark acquired Haviland Friends Academy to create the Kansas Central Bible Training School. Kiowa County’s first college expanded to two-year associate degrees in 1925. Five years later, it was renamed Friends Bible College to better showcase its postsecondary mission. By 1968, the Bachelor of Arts was formed for 128 credits of Quaker liberal arts education.
In 1975, Barclay College was formally accredited by the then American Association of Bible Colleges. The ACCA Conference member built the Worden Memorial Library on its 13-acre, nine-building Haviland campus in 1978. In 1990, the Barclay College name was adopted to honor the Scottish Quaker writer of An Apology for the True Christian Divinity.
In August 2007, Barclay debuted its Full Tuition Scholarship to cover educational costs. Initial regional accreditation candidacy was obtained on October 30, 2014. Raising $8 million in 2018 alone, Barclay College now serves 292 Bears in Bible-centered degrees online or face-to-face.

Barclay College Accreditation Details
On November 15, 2018, Barclay College received an electronic letter from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) Institutional Actions Council that extended initial Level III accreditation valid through the Focused Visit in Fall 2020 under President Royce Frazier, Ph.D. Located 805 miles northeast via Interstate 55 in Chicago, this giant 19-state Great Plains Region accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to ensure standards compliance for Barclay’s three associate, 17 baccalaureate, seven master’s, and five certificate offerings. Further, Barclay College was accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) through 2027. The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) also reaffirmed Barclay College’s approval in February 2013.
Barclay College Application Requirements
Enrolling at Barclay College is classified “minimally difficult” by Peterson’s though only 73 of the 109 Fall 2017 applicants were victorious for a 67 percent acceptance rate. First-year Bears seeking the B.A. in Psychology & Family Studies should complete at least the 21-unit high school curriculum required in Kansas. GED Math, Literacy, Science, and Social Studies scores above 145 each are equivalent. Cumulative GPAs in grades 9-12 must be above 2.3. Minimum testing limits are 500 SAT Writing and 18 ACT English. On average, freshmen present overall 3.06 GPA, 1030 SAT, and 22 ACT marks. Undergrads can transfer up to 90 credits graded “C” or higher from regionally and ABHE accredited colleges. Testing is optional for transfers age 21+ who’ve finished 12 credits with 2.0 GPAs. Global learners prove English fluency with preferred scores over 20 on each TOEFL iBT section. The School of Graduate Studies seeks bachelor’s grads exceeding 2.5 GPAs on the four-point scale. Though optional, GRE scores of 280 or greater are helpful. Online M.A. students generally have at least two years of experience too.
Barclay College simplifies admission by keeping it rolling year-round without deadlines. Currently, there’s only a priority date of March 18th for financial aid consideration. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2019-20, Barclay College has priced full-time undergrad tuition at $8,000 per semester or $16,000 annually. B.A. in Psychology & Family Studies majors pay $4,400 in general fees. The technology fee costs $690 each year. Living at the Haviland campus’ dorms like Lewis Hall adds $9,650 for room and board yearly. Barclay budgets $1,200 for books and $3,000 for personal expenses. Traditional annual attendance equals around $32,500 on-site and $23,200 at home. Online Bachelor’s in Psychology students are billed $395 per credit or $1,260 by course.
